wow. i'm ahead of a trend!

according to this article, cocktail hats are making a huge comeback

i sketched a series of whimsical cocktail style hats last year! didn't actually get around to illustrating them. perhaps i should! i was going to do them on black illustration board, in metallic inks.

note to self: get on this!!!

more paintings i'd forgotten about...

more paintings i'd forgotten about...

paintings i had forgotten all about...

this is what happens when i take a moment to clean up files...

a good few weeks for art!

i've sold 5 paintings over the past 2 weeks, have 4 commissioned pieces on the go, and 5 or 6 pieces on hold for a friend. i really enjoy getting the older pieces out of the house, partly because i really need the room, but seriously - what good are paintings leaning in my hallway in a big stack? i've seen them already. i've sketched them, doodled them, painted them, fiddled with them. i'm over it. now i just want it to brighten someone else's room, you know?

perhaps this spring i'll have an "open house" for close friends - come on over and pick out anything in this pile for $20, that pile for $50, etc. just get it out of my house before one of those cleaning and organizing tv shows comes over to torture me.

i'll always be a disorganized packrat, but i'm working on it, and that counts for something, right?

since tomorrow is (technically) the first day of spring, here is a snow & ice slideshow for your entertainment: CLICK

do you own any of my artwork?

if so, please email a photo of yourself showing off the piece in your home!

if you're shy, you could wear a crazy hat & sunglasses, hire your dog to point instead, or whatever goofy thing you like...

Click to see the Happy Folks Gallery - wouldn't you like your photo there too?

email pics to cynthia dot gould at gmail dot com

thanks so much!!!

Due to the... "issue" that happened at our house last week, we're installing a whack of new doors & windows. High security, high energy efficiency. It's an old house, and really needs the work. However, I need to make some extra money in the next few months. This weekend I'll be working on some commissioned pieces I'm way behind on, then I'll be paintings big cheap wild spring paintings. But only if I can make enough money for canvas... it's a weird circle. :)

creation in all forms

i haven't been painting lately, and it's been bubbling under my skin... it feels like something is off. but i've had adrenaline whiplash from Saturday's big show, and before that i was rehearsing like crazy, and sick... it's always something.

it's time to get cracking though - spring art festivals, i need to do more shows in cafes & restaurants, i need to get the nerve to submit to galleries (i have a HUGE mental block about that).

to start off, this week/weekend i'm just going to paint for the pure fun of it, with P-Funk cranked and the good irish cream coffee in hand. i have sketches for some really fun little heart themed paintings - just before Valentine's Day, so it's perfect! Instead of an overpriced Hallmark card, i think it would be far nicer to give heart-art to your sweetie. or to yourself! a symbol of love in your home is a good thing. (yeah, i know... i wear too much black to be a hippie, so what the hell is going on, right?)

anywhoo... i'll be posting Valentine Heart Art paintings next week. cheap & cheerful! please give me a shout if you're thinking about picking one up, and you could request a certain colour combo.

in writing news, i really need to get this new spoken word CD recorded & finished, but i feel like there are a few more pieces i need to write. just don't know what they are yet. hmmm.

i'm still sort of surprised that nobody has claimed these paintings
